just seen this

" Children with
special needs don't have an illness, so there is no cure and it's not
contagious. They want what we all want, to be accepted. Most of you
probably won't copy and paste this. Could you do it and leave it on your
status for at least 1 hour? It's Special Education week, and this is
...in... honour of all the ch...ild...ren. They do not judge others, so don't judge them"

find these things so Hmm

Oh I hate these. They are usually put on by the people who know someone whos cousins uncles goldfishes grandma had xxx

There is one going around similar to that, but about knowing someone who deserves a punch in the face. Quite apt really.

Yep, seen that one soooo many times :( Must be "special education week" all frickin' year!

lisad123isgoingcrazy · 19/08/2010 22:17

I thought I might have been a little senstive but they drive me mad! It seems silly to post about accepting these with SN, if you did accept them for them, you wouldnt need to put up naff stuff like that right?

If they're really so concerned then why don't they do something that will really help, campaigning, letter writing, volunteering etc rather than post a pointless and patronising chain letter?

willowthecat · 19/08/2010 22:29

Acceptance is fine but our children need education and rights too ! These messages seem to make a bland assumption that special education is covered by having a 'week' about it.

I've just had this too - bit awkward as I don't have a huge group of FB friends and the woman who's posted it knows me and DS2 well, so will be a bit Hmm that I haven't copied and pasted it. But just too cheesy for me. And I hate preaching to people anyway.

willowthecat · 20/08/2010 13:30

Could you be honest with the friend and explain that although well intentioned, it is very cheesy ? But then we don't have all the time in the world to educate people either.

waitingforgodot · 20/08/2010 16:53

oh I hate them.
I also hate the ones that start" i loved you before you were born....." etc etc.
Yes we all love our children however we dont feel the need to post it on facebook.
I know-miserable cow that I am!
