Help How do I find out if my son has ADD?

My son is 7 and about to go into juniors in sept, he is struggling in school with concentration and behind with some areas of school his teacher put him on a IEP and he gets some but little extra help.
I feel he is very young in his ways but because he is a big boy also people expect more from him as he looks older.
At home he is very active doesnt sit still and very jumpy, but in school he tends to be quiet and in a world of his own.
He finds it hard to follow instrutions as he doesnt really listen to what has been said.
He is a good boy but constantly on the go so hard work.
I have looked into ADD/ADHD but really not sure as he does behave and some symtoms are not typical.

Can anyone understand my concerns and what do I do? Who do I talk to??
School is not very helpful with special needs
Really worried that going to juniors is going to be too much of a change for him??
Help please.........

Hussle your GP into a referral.

They probably won't take you seriously at first but you must be firm about your need for a referral.

As Spinkle said, see your GP. Ask him for a referral.

My ds (7) was reluctant to go to school throughout last year. His school were not supportive, so I obtained a referral through my GP. We now have an appointment in October for an assessment.

Good luck.
