What do you love about the summer holiday

I love the summer holidays because my DCD son is just my son, he is just a brother or a cousin.

he is not the boy who cannot read, write or do maths, for 7 weeks he is not weaker and more tired than everyone else,
he is not singled out for special help everyday in class.
It is ok he loves his own company and does not have to socialise if he chooses not to.
I do not have to worry about him getting picked on or being left out because he can't keep up.

for 7 weeks who he is, who he is without doubt or complaint.

he is just my wonderful funny, happy boy who I am so very proud of.

Ditto!

No stress = far fewer meltdowns and violent episodes. I LOVE the summer. It's hard work, as he needs supervising and entertaining every minute of every day, but I absolutely love being with him.

I love the hols for the break from :

-the dread of nursery pick-up time...will they say something today???
-seeing his differences highlited when he is with his peers.
-no meetings with senco or EP to look forward to (not), no IEPs,....ect
-he can do what he likes and be himself and no one will bat an eyelid.

In brief the pressure is off!! Grin

Ooh yes, no dread when the phone rings 'hi, givemevodka, your son has run out of school/ hit a teacher/ smashed a window'.

Nope, he's surfing/ reading/ dancing/ on Youtube. Smile

Yes, and the break from paperwork. It is nice.
