Whose support do you need to change school?

I was told that it would be almost impossible to get my ds into a Autism Resource Base without his current mainstream school's support. Is this true? School is now asking for 30 hours on his statement, up 5 hours, because they asked dh and myself to take ds home at 2 pm every day and we refused. In spite of this, they claim they are the best place for him. LA Psychologist, who diagnosed ds, thinks it might be time to consider moving him. Autism Outreach worker thinks if support is there, current school is best but has just written in her report her offer to go into school to deliver ASD training either to whole school or to teachers/TAs working with ds (ds has been in school for 4 years.)

So has anyone ever succeeded in changing school despite lots of obstacles?

Ignore school - they're talking rubbish. The views of the Ed Pysch are more relevant.

You need to wrtite to the LA directly requesting that the school named on his Statement is the Autism Resource Base at whichever school th base is attached to.
