Okay, which MNer wrote, "Can't Eat Won't Eat"?

I started reading it earlier and honestly it's fantastic. It really is like talking to you lovely people and it's also as if the author is living with my DS.

I've just got to the bit about responding to judginess:

PTA Leading Light: I don't know a single child who doesn't love my homemade cakes.

Response: You do now!

"Concerned" Neighbour: Oh I'd be really worried if my child ate such terrible food.

Response: If I were you that really would be the least of my worries!

Brilliant

Not heard of it-is it a book?

Yes it is, written in 2002 apparently.

I thought I had heard of it on MN before but I was probably thinking of "My Child Won't Eat" which isn't SN / ASD -specific.

I've got that book knocking about somewhere. It didn't really help me getting ds to eat more healthily but the bit about dealing with judginess cheered me up no end.

Plus I showed my step-dad (who until then had maintained that ds would eat whatever I gave him if he was really hungry meaning it was all my fault for 'pandering') the part about how an autistic child would rather starve to death than eat the 'wrong' food. He now totally 'gets it', has never said another word except to ask me what he should get in for ds to eat when we visit!
