Hi hope you can help with a ????

If you have a child diagnosed with adhd and you are on income support, tax cedits, will this affect the family income, somebody mentioned it to me but not sure if they meant you would be entitled to extra money

If so why would you get extra, and whats it suppose to be for.

Thank you in advance

I think they may be referring to Disability Living Allowance. If your child receives DLA, then you get premium allowances on your housing benefit, and extra rates on your Tax Credits. Also, if your child gets DLA at Middle or Higher rate for care, then you can qualify for Carer's Allowance, of £53.90 per week. This will affect other benefits, but overall you would still be better off.

The DLA is supposed to assist the family with the extra expense that comes from having a child with a disability.
