Both for Dyslexia and DS2 for Dyspraxia. what do they do and what do we need to know?

The school have said this is with a veiw to them being statmented

We have moved the Boys to this school last sept as there were issuses with bullying and they were not getting the help that they needed old school had me down as a paranoid mum and wanting them to have something wrong with them. (SENCO's words)
We are pleased that the school are doing somthing and they have already provided DS1 with a 1 to 1 tutor and he is starting to make progress(he is 10) and have got speach therapy for DS2.

Any advice would be welcome. Thanks.

Normally they just observe them in class, and then talk to them afterward and give them some standardized tests.

It is a vital part of the statementing process so very glad for you that it is happening.

Don't worry at all about it.

It sounds like you have a damn good school there - very proactive. The EdPsych thing will be fine - yes, observations in class and then a bit of a test disguised as a chat/playing with a few puzzles. I've never met an unpleasant Ed Psych, and I've come across a few - it will be fine .

Hey,
yes it really is nothing to worry about.
We had ed psyc see our son who has Dyspraxia, she carried out a W.I.S.C assessment. It is an intelligence assessment, they do lots of little tests to find areas of weakness.

It may be worth asking for an OT referral unless you have already had one!

Glad they finally doing something for you.

Thanks for the replies. I have been a little worried about it.

The School that the DS'S go to now is fantastic I just wish we knew about it when DS1 started school. they go out of area.

We will ask for an OT referral thanks.
