Academies Bill - MPs will vote this evening!

MPs will vote on the Academies Bill this evening, so by tomorrow we should know what is in the final Bill.

I am not very optimistic that the Bill will be amended to protect the rights of children with SEN and very unhappy that it has been rail-road through, with insufficient time to properly consider the implications, especially for children with SEN.

And in advance of the Green Paper on SEN to be published in the autumn!

What a great example of joined up thinking by the coalition Government!

I think the only thing we can hope is that many fewer schools will actually take the academy route than the Tory-Dems envisage, and it will simply further entrench existing inequalities rather than introducing a huge new dimension of inequality into the system.
