Ok DD1 has a terrible time dealing with sad/bad things and sometimes it can go on for weeks.
Last night our little puppy was attacked badly by another dog, lots of blood and DD1 was of course very upset. She thought I was hurt too because I was covered in dogs blood, but i wasnt anywhere near dogs at the time, DH was.
Shes been talking about it loads, and we are resuurancing her, that puppy is now ok, and getting better.
But has anyone else found things that work? I know all DH cancer stuff which has been going on for 17months, still effects her badly, that even with seeing he is ok, and tried to explain it all to her.
I dont want this to become another problem for her
TIA

How old is she?

Can you do social stories with her to explain that sometimes dogs get attacked and then they are OK later?

(Despite hearing the term 'social stories' a lot, I didn't really get what they were and how they could be used till recently...)

I didnt know whether a social story would be a good thing or just make it worse

My dd1 (AS) gets like this , sometimes i find the more i talk about it (what ever is worrying her) the worse she gets. Maybe try not to talk about it too much but make sure she has lots of contat with the puppy as possible so she can see that puppy is getting better. I'm sory i can't be more help. xx
