Just trying to work out whether it is worth hiring one for DS.

I did, quite recently. I did it because my ds (4yrs) has alot of sensory problems, and I am still waiting for a referral to CAHM's. I needed help now now in 3-6-12 months time.

I have found it totally worth it, the OT did a in depth report on him and did diagnose him with SPD and SMD, she did an observation in nursery and at home, she has given me a sensory diet to work on with him, and sorted out a trial of a weighted blanket and cushion. She has also lent me a big spikey ball thing (like an exercise ball) for ds to play with, and he loves it and it definitely calms him down.
