definately

Yes do it, you will feel so much better when you come back.

I went away last week on a long planned for holiday with friends, I missed dh and dcs like mad, BUT I returned with my batteries recharged and a feeling that things were not so bad and that I could cope with anything.

Well worth the money and effort and planning.

yes, loads of places do - what kind of thing are you wanting?

everytime we go away for the weekend, we use a holiday let serviced apartment (we always ave to go self caterign because of food allergies) - they are quite easy to find, in almost any location. some will do short breaks, some won't.

whereabout would you want to go?

or maybe a london theatre break?

2shoes · 12/07/2010 12:55

gonna do it
my db suggested it, but I got stuck with thinking weekeds, which we can't do,

quite often, I have had success with phoning up a place that says it doesn't do short breaks - if they are currently empty, and you are offerign a last minute booking, then some relent.

always worth a try

Yes definately do it!

Is there a friend you haven't seen for a decade and you could go to stay there for a couple of nights?

2shoes · 12/07/2010 13:37

db is going to get in touch with my dads best mate, we are sure he will know somewhere.
we are planning on going to where my dad lived as it will be nice to have a happy time there iynwim. will be odd not worrying about wheelchair access though.

Gosh yes. Especially midweek, lots of places are full Fri/Sat/Sun and empty midweek so will do you a reduced rate. Have a look on laterooms or something.

I get three nights in a row when DS is on respite, as do other parents whose children go there. Now I just need DS2 to grow up a bit so I can have completely child-free time!!

Of course you should go away!!! There are some Premier Inn deals if you don't mind that sort of thing.

2shoes · 12/07/2010 19:04

omg she would kill me if she had to do 3 nights. she always tells them she is homesick on the 2 nights(and tbh I miss her to much)

I'd love a little break.

You could even just book into a B&B or a hotel somewhere and do touristy things of just book a spa break and chill for the full stay.

donkeyderby · 12/07/2010 23:23

DS is so disruptive at home, I take every opportunity I get to enjoy the relative peace. DS2 and DD enjoy not being hit too!

anonandlikeit · 12/07/2010 23:27

Wherabouts are you thinking about going?? Don't forget to include some lovely relaxation time or a bit of retail therapy!

TheCrunchyside · 12/07/2010 23:55

i'd love a spa break - would be cheap mid week i'm sure.

or somewhere for a walk plus lunch-time pub would be brill
