I've read about cards for teenagers and adults with aspergers, anyone know if I can get something similar for a pre-schooler?

I think ds would benefit from a card he could pull out of his pocket which would make people leave him alone when he's feeling cross - at the moment he just lashes out. Any ideas? I did wonder if I could just make a stop sign he could keep in his pocket and maybe that might help. He's nearly 4

You can get cards printed up - have a look at the National Autistic Society (NAS) web page. I also got some printed via BIBIC which is based in Bridgewater. The NAS also print explanations of ASDs in other languages in case you are going abroad. Hope this helps

Just wondering if you got the cards. I use the Pecs system. It works very well with young children.

Design your own, I did for my son. That way it's tailored to what he needs. You can use the NAS one as a guide if it helps.

I did my own, but also try social story books, they really help. I bought some off amazon and also made my own up with my son using a camera to take pics and making the story up as we went along - specifically on how to deal with social situations in the playground. My son was thought to be AS but his symptoms have declined and he's now 7 and doing just fine. The earlier you help and support some of these social issues the quicker the child learns the social queues they need to.
