ds is 3 1/2 and has funding from the LEA for support at pre-school partly because he really struggles with interacting with his peers. His teacher has suggested we consider using a play therapist. Would she do a couple of sessions with us teaching us ways of playing to help him interact?

In my LEA play therapy is only available before the child is in state provision so stopped the moment ds started nursery.

ds worker had set tasks and activities planned for him each week. These were delivered in our home.

The therapy service had activity days every couple of months where they would have a party or bouncy castle and all the children using the service were invited.

Try googling play therapy / portage in your LEA and it may give you some ideas about the service offered as it does vary depending on the LEA.

thanks, I think we would need to pay for it privately. Did you find it helped your ds much?
