Hi there.

DS (7 and Year 3) is currently very unhappy in his (state) school as he has very little appropriate dyslexic support at school.

He is wakes up every school day in tears and refuses to go into his classroom in the mornings. He is not being bullied but I think it is all related to his dyslexia as he is noticing the ever increasing gap between himself and his peers.

We are considering moving his to a school with specialist dyslexic support. We know we will have to "Go Private" and would really appreciate any advice.

Many thanks

Definitely Kings College Prep. Excellent dyslexia/dyspraxia department. Well worth a look.

Don't necessarily rule out state sector though. Great and Little Shelford Primary also quite good at present - make great efforts with children's reading and writing. Good personal support, confident children.

A little bit further afield but my ds goes to The Old Rectory in Suffolk, quite a lot of children ifrom Cambridgeshire, most weekly or flexi board .I cannot speak too highly of it and would recommend a visit even if you decide in the end too far. They specialise in getting children back into mainstream after 2 to 3 years although some do go on to other specialist schools. The pastoral care is fantastic and we have seen the most fantastic change in our ds who is now 11 .The head is very friendly and approachable and full of infomation.CAT me if you want to talk offline.

also jheard excellent reports of the friends school at saffron walden and our ds may fgo on there.
