first visit to SALT - what to ask/expect?

my 25m old can only make a few animal noises & shows no interest in talking, though everything else seems normal. Just wondering what I shoud expect/ ask. thanks.

chat to you about your DD's general development since birth, SALT to have a bit of a play with her to look at how she communicates, SALT to check out how much she understands (put the DOLL in the BAG, put the BEAR in the BOX), and how she plays/pretend plays, e.g. would try to feed a toy doll with a toy spoon, that sort of thing. from your DD's point of view, a good SALT will make it all seem like play, so it should be fun for her.

they will probably check 'under' 'on' 'in' 'behind', that sort of thing
definitely all background and play based - they will probably have a couple of flip charts and ask 'can you see the x' or whatever - might just do it with books, or real objects.
just intitially to ascertain what understanding your lo has, and whether it is expressive/ receptive delay etc.
they might talk tou you about how s/he gets his needs met - ie how you communicate at the moment, how you know what s/he wants etc, and ways to try to stimulate reciprocal communication ie choices etc. (don't know what level your lo is at, sorry)

Also they may ask about feeding , to establish if there any issues regarding food texture and sensitivity, dribbling, tongue/mouth mobility. They look at theri expressive language in comparison with received undestanding of language.
