Hello, I’ve applied to be an IPSEA volunteer and have an interview next week. Just wondered if anyone here has experience of volunteering there or works there and can give me an idea of what to expect? What are they looking for? Thank you

They are looking for someone willing to learn and able to commit time to that. They don’t expect you to know everything from the off. There is training, support and supervision but you do need to be able to spend time doing that. Good communication skills and at least basic ICT skills. Lots talk about personal experience in education/SEN or previous professional experience.

Thank you, that’s helpful.

Hello may I ask when and how you applied? I've been looking online and it seems they're not taking new volunteers

Yes volunteer applications were closed for ages, I kept rechecking and finally they were open but it was the last day so I just scraped in! I guess you could ask when applications might next be open- I got the impression during the process that they take on a new (small) cohort every 6 months or so?

Sorry didn’t answer your q. This was all in mid/late July.
