DLA WAIT TIMES 2026

I thought I’d make a post in case it helps any other parents and also because I’d love to find some people to go through this waiting period with.

My eldest son (now 7) had his original DLA form received on 05/04/2024. He was awarded Middle Rate Care and Low Rate Mobility on 02/08/2024 until February 2026.

His renewal form was then sent off on 08/12/2025 and we received a decision on 14/01/2026, with the same awards continuing until 2028.

I’ve now submitted my 5-year-old son’s first DLA claim. It was sent signed for and received on 28/05/2026. I haven’t had confirmation that it’s been scanned onto the system yet, so the waiting game begins all over again.

As a single mum to two boys, I always find this process incredibly overwhelming. Sitting and writing pages about all the things your child struggles with and can’t do compared to other children their age is heartbreaking, even when you know you’re simply being honest. The forms take so much emotional energy.

When I applied for my eldest in 2024, I actually met some lovely parents through groups like this and still speak to some of them now, so I thought I’d reach out again.

If you’re currently waiting for a decision, I would really appreciate it if any parents can please comment with when your form was received and how long you’ve been waiting. I’d also be really grateful to hear if anyone has had a recent decision in 2026 and what current wait times seem to be.

Mine was scanned 9th June very long waits

Any mandatory reconsideration still waiting from April x

1st July was my scan date

I did mine march and got decision last week xx

I have just spoke to them to see if they received my further evidence i sent in and I’ve just been told they are taking weeks my scan date was the 26th June. If you hear something can you let me know please.

New claim scan date 29th June, and not heard a thing. Called yesterday still not with anyone and it was still waiting to be scanned into the system for it then to go in a queue. I thought it was scanned on the system when you get the text to say received so really confused. I find they just tell you different things on the phone. Anyone with a similar date heard anything

The text message you received will be your scan date. Mine scan date is before yours so if i hear anything i will let you know.

Thank you ☺️. Yeah that's what I thought so when they lady told me on the phone it's still waiting to be scanned onto the system I was like right okay don't make no sense but clearly she just wanted to get me off the phone

They told me today claims are taking weeks but people from the 24th of June are getting decisions. They also told me they’re done in date order. My scan date was the 26th June.

My scan date is 22nd June, still waiting! Was told there are high volumes of applications, when I spoke to someone else they said the applications aren’t taking as long as before with some decisions made at 4-5 weeks. So confusing. I have seen quite a few June dates with decisions. The waiting is making me so anxious! I was refused and also awaiting tribunal but also put in a new claim. Hope we all get decisions soon.

I wouldn’t personally believe what they say when you ring .. I rang with my Daughter claim last year they told me it was still in cue the next day I got a text to say awarded! Xx

Scan date 10th of June. Not even with a decision maker so it's definitely not done in date order.

Hi, I received a letter this morning saying they had received the claim on 29/7 and they are looking at all the information I have given them. If they have enough, they’ll let me know decision or if they don’t have enough information will write to doctor etc, call or write to me or arrange for a visiting team to come out. Does anyone know whether this means the claim is being assessed now, or whether this is just generic and likely sat in a queue?

Tried to call for an update this morning and lady was so rude to me on the phone and just said if you listened to the message we can not give updates

Birmingham me. I called yesterday and still nothing so will call again Tuesday x
