DLA WAIT TIMES 2026

I thought I’d make a post in case it helps any other parents and also because I’d love to find some people to go through this waiting period with.

My eldest son (now 7) had his original DLA form received on 05/04/2024. He was awarded Middle Rate Care and Low Rate Mobility on 02/08/2024 until February 2026.

His renewal form was then sent off on 08/12/2025 and we received a decision on 14/01/2026, with the same awards continuing until 2028.

I’ve now submitted my 5-year-old son’s first DLA claim. It was sent signed for and received on 28/05/2026. I haven’t had confirmation that it’s been scanned onto the system yet, so the waiting game begins all over again.

As a single mum to two boys, I always find this process incredibly overwhelming. Sitting and writing pages about all the things your child struggles with and can’t do compared to other children their age is heartbreaking, even when you know you’re simply being honest. The forms take so much emotional energy.

When I applied for my eldest in 2024, I actually met some lovely parents through groups like this and still speak to some of them now, so I thought I’d reach out again.

If you’re currently waiting for a decision, I would really appreciate it if any parents can please comment with when your form was received and how long you’ve been waiting. I’d also be really grateful to hear if anyone has had a recent decision in 2026 and what current wait times seem to be.

I have seen a 30th of July decision made and also a 23rd of July decision made today on the FB group! Hopefully not long for us! X

I am still waiting from 1st July, try not to worry some DM take longer

I only called Monday too, but im calling again. 🫣
My scan date is 10th July, and for over a month now they have said its in a queue. Yet loads of fb getting their results from end of July and beginning of August, its so odd.

Exactly we are keeping them in a job 🤣 If they were more transparent there wouldn’t be as much need to call xx

There is and decisions must have been before, as they say 3-5 days for payment processing so there’s a gap between the actual decision and payment landing. Unless your lucky enough to call at the right time to find out xx

I got through, apparently it is currently with the decision maker... hoping it doesnt take too much longer 😩

Fantastic news 🤞for you. It can be quick with my first claim I was told with decision maker, I thought it might be weeks still, but turned out a decision was made the same day xx

My scan date was the 29th of July so I’m thinking I have a bit of a wait yet. Does anyone else have a similar scan date to me?

@Md234my scan date is the 6th August. They received the forms and I got a text on the 28th July but letter sent on the 6th saying it’s been received and requesting birth certificate

COC SD 16/7 any coc been done with a similar scan date? I’ve read coc can take longer

Mines 30th but it wasn’t registered until 2nd September. Seen someone with the 30th scan date receive payment this morning x

I also received a letter dated the 4th requesting birth certificate so would the 4th be my scan date and the 29th when they received the forms? It’s a agonising wait isn’t it😩 I’m so worried my little one won’t get it because of his age.

Hi everyone I have been following this group I'm anxious its my first time claiming DLA and little one is only 2 and heard it's harder to get for that age. Text saying recived forms 20th July then letter 10th August asking for birth certificate and saying they are looking at my claim. I'm dying to call for an update but don't want to be a pest but the wait is killing me. So glad for I found this group and happy for everyone who has been awarded and good luck for those still waiting.

@ShyRedCrow my little one is also only 2 I was very hesitant about putting in the forms but got advised to by a health care professional. Ringing for a update will not do any harm I have rang on Monday and they said mine is waiting to be picked up by a descion maker now as I sent the birth certificate back tracked 24 and they received it on the 5th August.

How old is your little one?
my little one is 4, so I get what you mean. It feels like a lot of people say it’s just their age etc, when you know that isn’t the case . That’s what is making me nervous too.
your scan is the date on the letter, that’s what the lady I spoken to said.

I’ve seen many people calling asking for updates. It won’t affect your application, so if you feel it’d help then I’d do it. I’ve rang a few times myself
