DLA WAIT TIMES 2026

Emssxo · 06/06/2026 22:14

Hi everyone 👋

I thought I’d make a post in case it helps any other parents and also because I’d love to find some people to go through this waiting period with.

My eldest son (now 7) had his original DLA form received on 05/04/2024. He was awarded Middle Rate Care and Low Rate Mobility on 02/08/2024 until February 2026.

His renewal form was then sent off on 08/12/2025 and we received a decision on 14/01/2026, with the same awards continuing until 2028.

I’ve now submitted my 5-year-old son’s first DLA claim. It was sent signed for and received on 28/05/2026. I haven’t had confirmation that it’s been scanned onto the system yet, so the waiting game begins all over again.

As a single mum to two boys, I always find this process incredibly overwhelming. Sitting and writing pages about all the things your child struggles with and can’t do compared to other children their age is heartbreaking, even when you know you’re simply being honest. The forms take so much emotional energy.

When I applied for my eldest in 2024, I actually met some lovely parents through groups like this and still speak to some of them now, so I thought I’d reach out again.

If you’re currently waiting for a decision, I would really appreciate it if any parents can please comment with when your form was received and how long you’ve been waiting. I’d also be really grateful to hear if anyone has had a recent decision in 2026 and what current wait times seem to be.

Wishing everyone the best of luck with their claims. ❤️

Thank you all! I’m looking forward to seeing your awards. I called exactly on the 8 week mark and asked for a text and I got one today. Maybe try this? X

I literally just got my text to say we’ve been awarded!! 🥳

Brilliant news ❤️

Thinking of you @NewBlueOP x

My mobility MR is ongoing since the start of June. A friend did hers via phone and had a decision after 5-6 weeks.

Does anyone know if it’s best to print off the MR form or to call up for one? Does it make a difference like it does with a new claim?

Never go the phone route. Youre totally reliant on the agent taking down the information accurately and relaying it as you want it. High risk of error and often rushed.

Call up, request a statement of reasons and then print off the form.

Ah thanks ! I have tried to call twice but the wait time is so long and we don’t have much spare time to be on hold. We’ll be back home on Saturday so will be calling next week. It’s been 15 weeks since I first called for the forms so it’s has been a loooong time 🤣🤣

Mine was received 6th July and when I called Friday I was told it’s now in the queue waiting for a decision maker. Have you called to see what stage your June MR is at? x

Yes, in the queue waiting to be allocated a decision maker. The queue is huge though! Im sure its around November time for June (Hopefully not though!)

Do you know roughly how long yours has been in the decision maker queue? Mine only seems to have reached that stage recently so I'm trying to work out whether the overall MR wait includes a long processing stage before that x

Theres no decision maker queue as such. Theres just the queue which is based off what month they're working off and with a decision maker, which is from a few days to a couple of weeks usually.

Sc1997 · 03/09/2026 12:26

Hi guys. Been a silent watcher for weeks now. So happy for you @MrsW1212because I know how anxious you’ve been. My scan date was the 8/07 and still heard nothing without a pending payment so I’m slightly worried for decline. And too scared to ring for them to tell me decline on the phone 😭😅. Good luck to everyone xxx

I am 13th July so was also thinking of calling next Friday. Have you had any texts or letters? I’m hoping they text a decision rather than me phoning!

My son’s claim took 4 weeks exactly last October so I’m sure it won’t be that long of a wait for your scan date!

Nothing since the letter stating they’d received it! I missed my daughter’s renewal by 2 weeks as my printer stopped working😵‍💫so new claim all over again😒 hers took 19 weeks in 2024 so I’ve not waited half of that yet🤣 just keep being hard on myself because it should’ve been a renewal rather than a new claim🤦🏻‍♀️ I am dying to call up for an update but never know what to say just feels like I’m getting on there nerves🤣

Same here, I had sent it in time frame but was received after my renewal date so they said new claim and send everything again. Very frustrating isn’t it! Hoping the history of the previous claim will help though. If I hear anything I will let you know!!

So frustrating but it is what it is! Hopefully you hear something soon I’ve seen a lot of people around the 9/10/11 getting decisions! You’ve more restraint that I do if I were you I’d be ringing tomorrow just in case🤣

Dream133 · 03/09/2026 13:32

Hi hope you don’t mind me joining in with the chat. I sent new claim off end of July, had a text 4th August to say they received, they requested birth certificate on the 12th I didn’t receive letter untill the 19th sent that straight off and I received the birth certificate back last week. Does that mean it’s been scanned in etc and just waiting for it to be picked up by a DM x

Miamummy1 · 03/09/2026 14:19
