To feel like I can’t be a good parent to a challenging SEND child? I’m tired of the constant battles, trying to do right by her (DD8) and getting physically attacked by her when I say something she doesn’t agree with?
As you can tell I’m feeling lost right now and can’t see a way through. Needing hugs x

Sorry things are so tough.

What support do you and DD have?

Not much support, which is part of the problem. We only get a break when she’s at school, that’s been challenging but that’s a whole different can of worms.

You an request social care assessments. A carer’s assessment for you and an assessment by the children with disabilities team for DD. On their website, Contact has model letters you can use.

There may not be anything suitable, but you could also look at your local short breaks offer.

Does DD have an EHCP? If so, what support is in it at the moment? You can request an early review. On their website, IPSEA has a model letter you can use.

Has DD had a home OT assessment and a sensory OT assessment?

Some people find the books The Explosive Child and the Out of Sync Child helpful. Others find low demand &/or non-violent resistance resources useful.

How is DD’s sleep and eating?
