Hi,

Does anyone have any experience with Surrey? Do they meet the deadline obligations usually? Mainly for the EHCP initial request and coming back by the 6 weeks?
Thanks so much.

Surrey is one of the more difficult LAs to deal with. They regularly breach timescales. Despite what they think, the law still applies to them, though.

@ExistingonCoffee thank you. My outcome is meant to be due today and I’m constantly checking my emails. Everything is so difficult at the moment, just need to know :(

Tomorrow, chase the LA. On their website, IPSEA has a model letter you can use to send to the Director of Children’s Services. If chasing doesn’t work, you may need/want to start to look for someone with capacity to take your case for a pre-action letter.

They are an absolute nightmare. Provide nothing and don’t follow the law! Plus even when you do a PAP on them admit fault and still provide nothing. However it does depend which case worker you have (I have a terrible man) but I hope you have dropped lucky with a proactive one!

Pre-action letters don’t always work, but they are a stepping stone to being able to proceed to JR proceedings.

Surrey are absolutely awful.
However, I did find they responded within the six week deadline after the request to assess was first sent. With my eldest, they refused to assess.
I hope that you have heard from them and it is good news.
