After a very long fight and countless disappointments we got an EHCP for my son. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with Imperial Avenue Infant School or Ellesmere College in Leicester?

Imperial Avenue Infant School isn’t a special/specialist school. Although it has a DSP. No experience of it, sorry. Not personal experience, but I know someone who was happy with Ellesmere College in Leicester, but it really depends on DS’s needs.

They have a specialist unit within their mainstream school, I have heard they mainly focus on communication but it is very new so I’m unsure

Yes, they have a DSP, but it is a mainstream placement, not a specialist school.

For most units within mainstream schools, the mainstream school is named in section I and the provision provided by the unit included in F. This is because most units within mainstream are not separate registered institutions.

I think you need to start by thinking about DS’s needs and the provision he requires.

They have a DSP and a SEND unit for more severe children.

thank you, I didn’t know that.

Yes, you’re right it all depends on DS needs
