High COIN / ASD secondary in Surrey

Hi everyone,

My Son is in a High COIN junior school and needs a specialised secondary. I'm looking at various options in Surrey.

Is there anyone here with a child at the following who might be willing to IM me please for some discreet feedback on them?

St Dominics
Hopescourt
Sunnydown
Leith Hill (new)

I'm very empathetic to kids venting when they're disregulated but my child is quiet, anxious and will absolutely refuse school if his cohort have "behavioural issues" and behave erratically like this. (I'm so sorry if that sounds blunt). Any insights via IM would be very welcome please, as it's obviously difficult to get a view on this at Open Days.

Thanks!

I don’t have DC in any, so you may want to ignore if you only want direct personal experience from those who do.

With your DS’s profile, I would avoid Sunnydown.
St Dominic’s does have some DC who display challenging behaviour when dysregulated, but it is less than Sunnydown.
Hopescourt also has some pupils with challenging behaviour at times. That is the nature of that type of school, but IMO it is also less common than Sunnydown. It is not at full capacity so whether that will change over time, I don’t know. I expect it still won’t have as much as Sunnydown.
Leith Hill is so new it is difficult to know what their cohort will be longer term - new independent schools often go through a period of flux. T it is highly likely they will always have some DC who display challenging behaviour when dysregulated, though. Cavendish’s other similar schools do.
