EHCP - what to expect in mainstream year 10

Hi, we have a DD in yr10 in a mainstream school. EHCP in place since yr7 and she has dyslexia, dysgraphia and ADHD. This year she has support lessons which take place instead of Spanish, so 3 lessons of support per week. They are small groups lessons for all those not taking a language at GCSE and seem to be split between Maths, Science and English support. I have asked the school what her EHCP funding is being used for as up until now she has had TA support in lessons and 1 to 1 lessons in place of taking a language. I am not sure what I want to say here but it seems like the EHCP has been watered down in year 10. She may not need a TA in every lesson but it doesn't feel like homework or lessons are being adapted in any way. We also bought her a laptop when she started secondary so what is the money being used for?

You need to look at the EHCP. The provision DD requires should be detailed, specified and quantified in F of the EHCP. Focus on that rather than the funding.

Is TA support in F (would need to be tighter wording than just ‘TA support’)? What about the 1:1 lessons? Laptop?

Thanks. I need to go back to the EHCP but it has hardly changed since year 7. We have annual reviews where a copy of the meeting notes are added but apart from that, its the same document. I hoped that by year 10, that things would be in place in September in terms of the new teachers understanding DD's needs. Its so frustrating.

Just because the EHCP hasn’t been amended since Y7 doesn’t mean the provision previously provided is detailed, specified and quantified in F. Sometimes schools provide provision in excess of what is in F. Sometimes school provide provision even though the wording in F isn’t enforceable.

Do you have the email addresses of DD’s teachers? If so, have you emailed them directly? If you haven’t got their email addresses, email the main office &/or SENCO and ask the emails to be forwarded. Failing that, would DD had them a note from you?
