SEN transport to school, car seat/creiling harness advice

Spoke to LA transport dept yesterday and DS has has just been approved for transport to his Sen school, it's only just under a couple of miles so they needed to check the other children's details who applied later to figure out if he ll be issued a standard taxi just to himself or whether he ll be sharing with 2/3 children on a minibus with the appropriate route (seemingly having a child that close whose disability means their technically eligible for transport isn't something they ve dealt with recently).

As they haven't decided yet they wouldn't confirm the situation with a car seat or safety harness, so I wondered if any other parents had used booster seats and a creiling harness on transport before and how it worked practically so I know what to push for?

DS is 4, 109cm and about 20kg which rules out asking if he could have an easy to install forward facing car seat.

Crelling harnesses shouldn’t be an issue. They are necessary because of disability and if they are required, they are necessary for safety. If you haven’t already, you should inform the transport department one is required because they can’t be fitted to all vehicles.

Most of the time, booster seats in taxis aren’t an issue. You need one that can be placed/removed easily. Sometimes it isn’t possible though.

I ve already let them know that the additional harness would be necessary when I applied as he wouldnt stay still enough with a seat belt alone.
He's been in an ERF seat in DHs car for years, so I ll have to look at booster seats as I ve no idea which are the simplest to install if they ll allow it.
