Moving to Hertfordshire with a ehcp

Has anyone had experience of transferring their child’s ehcp over to Hertfordshire? What was your experience? I almost feel too scared to move and trapped in case they make my life hell trying to change/cease it. I also want to keep the same mainstream setting until DS starts secondary as it’s what he knows, it’s only 30 mins away.

Personally, I wouldn’t move unless it was completely unavoidable. Hertfordshire is one of the more difficult LAs to deal with.

When the EHCP is transferred, the new LA becomes responsible for the EHCP. That includes the placement within it if it is still feasible for DC to attend (and it will be at 30mins journey). However, within 6 weeks, the LA will inform you when they are going to review the EHCP, which they must do within 12 months of the last review or 3 months of the transfer, whichever is later. They will potentially amend or even cease to maintain. You would have the right of appeal, but it is something you should be aware of. And they may decide to undertake a reassessment of needs.
