Moving from North to South London – Need School & Club Advice (Morden/Sutton/Wimbledon)

Hi all,
I’m planning a move from North London to South London (Morden/Surrey area) and would love some local advice!

I’m looking for primary and secondary schools for my two children:

My 7-year-old son has an EHCP and is borderline autistic (very gentle, shy, loves nurturing teachers, art, and outdoor play). I’m looking for a mainstream primary school with strong SEN support, ideally Ofsted Outstanding and preferably in Morden or nearby.

My 12-year-old daughter will be going into Year 8 this September (very sporty, sociable, and in top sets academically (though not particularly study-driven at the moment! more into sports and extra curriculum). I’m looking for a mixed secondary school, also Ofsted Outstanding, ideally in Morden, Sutton, or Wimbledon areas for ease of travel.

Also keen to hear about any kids’ clubs or activities (sports, art, social) in the area.

Would really appreciate any tips from local parents.

Thanks so much in advance 💙

For DC2, I know a parent happy with the SEN support at Morden primary, but I don't think it is OFSTED outstanding.

For DC1, without an EHCP, you will be limited to schools with places for an in-year admission, so you should start by asking who has spaces. You may not get much/any choice.

OFSTED outstanding schools aren’t always the best for SEN. Their inspection may have been a long time ago, too. So I wouldn’t base my decision on wanting an OFSTED outstanding school.

Be aware when you move LA with an EHCP, the EHCP is transferred and the new LA will review the EHCP and may amend or propose to cease to maintain. You will have the right of an appeal, but it is something you need to be aware of. They may also decide to undertake a reassessment of need.
