To seek diagnosis for DS11

My 11 year old has asked to be assessed for autism (found year 6 really difficult after his first hormone dump I believe!). I’d like to get the ball rolling for him.

Senco isn’t interested as he is well behaved, articulate after a melt down and works at greater depth.) ahis class teacher said she thinks ADHD.

I do think he is ND. And so as not to drip feed his older sister is diagnosed dyslexic and school think autism and ADHD but she doesn’t want a diagnosis as she doesn’t think it will change anything and she already has adjustments in place.

interested to hear of other people’s experiences. The secondary he will attend is brilliant on the pastoral side and know I can get somethings in place without a diagnosis. Eg for hun to leave lessons two minutes early to avoid the noise / crowds as he will 100% struggle with this!

I would speak to the SENCO again and also the GP.

If you haven’t already, I would speak to the secondary SENCO about support and enhanced transition.

Thank you he’s been out on enhanced transition by his class teacher so I will use this to start the conversation.

I had some really negative experiences with the senco with my DD so think this is making me hesitant…
