No free train travel for child who gets DLA

Does this seem fair. My son gets DLA. And I was looking into travel for when he starts secondary school it seems he can't get free travel on trains but a carer can get 1/3 off

But an adult traveling alone can get free travel.

The thing is when he starts secondary he will be traveling alone so same as the adult does. In London children do get free travel on buses. But as Ds has autism. The train is so much easier. Its 4 stops which takes 8 mins. Vs 2 buses taking around an hour. Due to traffic time of day etc.

With a disabled person’s freedom pass, DS would be treated the same as an adult would. The same list of eligibility criteria apply.

With a disabled railcard, the disabled person (plus their carer if they have one) can get a 1/3rd off. This applies if the disabled person is an adult or a child. Although with a child this isn’t always the best way of doing it.
