Help no Specilist provision for Y7 Sept 25

What do I do now?
my son is high functioning ASD and Dyslexic.
He loves schools and his friends but has anxiety around learning so can refuse to write.
Always attends so no problem with attendance.
My son has an EHCP in place with only a Specilist provision type named. currently in mainstream. Hampshire LA have consulted with 12 plus schools and none have said they can meet need.
Hampshire LA are suggesting next steps would be to look at a AP? or tutoring package. This isn’t an option for us as he really wants to be in school and to have friends in a school environment with small classes. It is also not possible as I have to be at work. Son’s mental health would suffer from not having friends and the routine of school. Any advice would be appreciated as I really don’t know where to go from here. Tribunal set for June but I’m not sure what I would be appealing now as no offers for placements received.

Has the wholly independent school you had an offer from and wanted named withdrawn their offer?

Are all 12 schools wholly independent? Because if they aren’t, you don’t need an offer of a place or for them to agree to being named.

If you do go down the AP/EOTAS/EOTIS route, it doesn’t matter that you work. It is not EHE. The LA retains responsibility and you cannot be compelled to organise, deliver or facilitate provision.

Thanks for your response. We are waiting for an offer as i understand the discovery days went well and we haven’t heard anything to say otherwise. The consults are all independent. Son was deemed too academically advanced for the cohorts, not autistic enough? Aversion to writing tasks due to dyslexia so they say PDA traits or they were just not suitable after the initial visit. He loves being at school with friends but needs low arousal / therapeutic environment with small classes.

Your previous thread said you had an offer of a place from a wholly independent school. Was that withdrawn?

Are the 12 independent schools wholly independent or section 41 independent? You only need an offer of a place for wholly independent. For section 41 independents, you don’t need an offer of a place.

It’s not section 41 approved. No formal offer yet but have not heard anything to say otherwise. The admissions policy says that following taster days that if not suitable we would be informed straight away.

Chase the wholly independent school. Without an offer of a place, they can’t be named, so the advice in your previous thread won’t apply because that was based on you saying you had an offer.

Alongside that, check if any of the other schools are section 41 independents.
