Hi, I'm searching for a needle in a haystack school I think. My son is year 5 / 9yo in mainstream primary, we are just outside Portsmouth so come unde Hampshire and the school can no longer meet needs. He would prefer co-ed rather than boys only. He is autistic with severe dyslexia, working at around 3 years below in English/reading/writing and uses a lot of adaptive technology. He can more or less access maths at the current level but needs more time and help. He is described as having a spikey profile and so far the LA have not found a school to accept him, he does have an ehcp. Slindon previously said yes, sadly boys only, but that was last year and panel said no at the time. They are consulting again. He is either too far ahead for MLD schools or too far behind for autism / independent schools. The dyslexia is a very big this.

Any school suggestions please? And experience of undershaw? Thanks!

If Slindon would still offer a place and that is your preference, you can appeal if the LA refuse to name it.

Undershaw is a different type of school to Slindon, so it depends on what you think DS needs.

I would have suggested More House, but that is also single sex.

You could look at St Dominic’s and Unsted Park in Surrey.
