Hi, my son is currently working towards blank level 3 with his speech and language. When I've looked at it it's working towards age 4-5 years. He's 7 and a half years old in year 3 at school. School are saying he won't be seen by SLT for a year because that's how long it will take him to work the programme. They don't seem concerned but a long with everything else he's displaying it is for me. Just after some advice really please if I'm over worrying. Thank you x

Depending on where you live, in some areas you can self refer or the GP can refer.

Does DS have an EHCP?

Thank you. He's with with NHS but because we've moved from another area we are having to refer again. No EHCP school don't think it's a problem. He can speak so that's ok for him but his difficulties are understanding and expressive language . I've a doctor's appointment at the weekend to discuss everything with his behaviours.

If you think an EHCP may be needed, you can make an EHCNA request yourself. You don’t need the school to agree or do it. On their website, IPSEA has a model letter you can use.
