Waiting to find out if DS can stay at his nursery

Hi everyone, hoping somebody can help me. 4yo DS is autistic and in Janurary he started at a private nursery. He’s come on leaps and bounds, nursery has been fantastic for him. The senco there are amazing and have done so much for us. His ehcp is almost done.

Yesterday the senco told me they are just waiting to find out if he can stay with them until July. In the September he’ll be off to reception. I have been told off the education psychologist that mainstream reception would benefit him more than a specialist.

Im just really confused as to why he wouldn’t be able to stay with them? If they don’t think he can cope in a private nursery how is he going to cope in a mainstream school?

I could have got it all wrong I don’t know, but just wondering if anyone has any ideas thanks

With EHCPs, there is a process. You receive a draft. Get the chance to make representations and state your preferred placement. The LA consults with a setting or multiple settings. The LA finalise the EHCP naming the placement. It’s a process. What the nursery means is they need to wait to see if they are named in the EHCP.

And what do you think? LAs like to push MS.
