Hi
Enquiring about small nurturing private or state schools in north london or Herts . My son is 14 with adhd and currently homeschooled since September as he was not coping well with his secondary and had school avoidance.
Any thoughts or experience of HOLMEWOOD or ST CHRISTOPHER SCHOOL in Letchworth or ORANGE TREE SCHOOL, in Whetstone or NORTH LONDON GRAMMAR or any others! 👍

Can you say more about DS’s needs because these are quite different schools? For example, if Holmewood is suitable, North London Grammar is highly unlikely to be suitable and most likely won’t offer a place because they won’t be able to meet DS’s needs. Does DS have a diagnosis of autism if you are considering Holmewood? I presume DS has an EHCP?

Depending on DS’s needs you could look at Egerton-Rothesay, The King’s School, Mount House and, if 14 and in Y10, Wentworth college. But it really depends on DS’s needs.

Hi
Thanks for the information.
He has been recently assessed and doesn’t meet the full criteria for an autism diagnosis, but has some traits. He has a diagnosis of adhd. No EHCP.
I have just started looking into schools today and in particular looking for any advice about what’s out there, in particular anyone with children at The Orange Tree school and St Christopher’s and Wentworth College.

Request an EHCNA. On their website, IPSEA has a model letter you can use. Without an EHCP, your options for a specialist school will be limited. And the ones who do accept self funders can be extremely expensive. OTS accepts private funders, but the majority of their pupils have EHCPs. It can be expensive to self fund.

All 3 schools in your last post can work well for the DC they suit, but none work for all. I think you need to think what type of school DS needs because they are very different to each other.
