ADHD referral - What to expect from first phone apt

Hi, my 12yo DS has been referred to local CAMHS for an ADHD assessment. He was referred in July and we’ve been given a telephone apt for the end of Sept to “go through your concerns”, and it’s with both me and my son.

am assuming this is very initial step in what might be a 2-3 year wait (we’re in London)? Is this a type of triage?

there is no real information in the appointment letter.

could anyone tell me what we might be able to expect from this first meeting?

It will depend what area you are in even within London but some of the common things that are asked about are current difficulties, previous difficulties, what support has been tried, a history (developmental, educational, family, pregnancy, etc.) and strengths.
