What did you do? How long did it take?
DS is 12, v difficult first yr at secondary school. We know he has it but wasn't causing difficulty at primary school, he is super friendly (exhaustively chatty!) and bright, so it wasn't noticed by anyone but is really.
Now he has to sit still and focus for long periods his grades dropped dramatically, self confidence dipped and not sleeping so we bit the bullet, had a chat and have started to talk to his teachers and the Senco.
We have been advised to go to GP to get him in the system but assessment here is 3-4 YEAR wait so thinking of forking out for private.
However, GP today advised against this as there might not be a shared care agreement and we would hit a wall further down the line.
My aim here is to get him support and understanding at school, not medicated, so might ignore GP and go private anyway.
Anyone have a similar experience?
