Anyone have/teach someone with a hearing impairment and can tell me what this is (from description)?

A while ago, I delivered a workshop to a class of students. Just before I started, the teacher handed me a device to wear. It fit into the palm of my hand and was attached to a lanyard/chain thing so that I would wear it around my neck.

The teacher explained it was to help a student hear me.

I want to tell my workplace about it, but whenever I describe it, people just keep suggesting hearing aid, which I guess it is, in the sense that it is aiding in one's hearing. But does anyone know if it has a specific name, different from a hearing aid that fits on the ear?

I've looked on Google to no avail. It's the first time I've encountered the device, but surely they are quite popular.

It’s a radio aid. Look up Phonak Roger :-)

I think the one most used in school settings in the Roger Touchscreen mic transmitter.

Aha! That seems to be it! Thank you so much @Scrobbler :)

Generic term is "assisted listening device" 🙂
