Self referral for child pros/cons

Hi, I already have two children diagnosed/on pathways referred through school but suspect another one of my children (ADHD)
Is there any pros/cons for referring via the hcrg website myself?
Also if you have done this yourself, what was the process?
for context my son is nearly 10 and nearing the end of year 5, I would like his to be diagnosed (if that ends up being the result) and sorted before hitting secondary school as my older son was diagnosed during secondary school and has made the battle for help/accommodations harder. I keep asking for an appointment with Senco but they seem very busy this time of year and I would just like to get something in before the summer holidays start.
thanks

The big benefit of self referral is it gets done quicker. I can’t help with the process because the area I know who uses HCRG group doesn’t allow self referral for ADHD assessments, but the school will still be contacted. Waiting lists are generally long, so you probably won’t have a diagnosis in a year.

Thank you, I’m hoping it would get the referral in quicker as I’m sure the senco at school have a backlog of referrals and other bits to get done. My older son was diagnosed in 6 months last year starting with the gp but I think the list has gotten a bit longer since since!
