Homeschoolers who left school because it was unsuitable for SEN/education

I'm just wondering if there are other homeschoolers in this SEN section of MN. DS was removed from school for Home Education in Y7 due to bullying and some avoidable failings of the school to meet his needs. Now ending Y8 in homeschool with the assistance of a variety of private tutors and Wolsey Hall. He misses his friends and wants to return to school. I would like him to go to school too, but I have been unable to find a school that would meet his SEN and provide a suitable education (one that provides access to higher level maths/science/computing and help with English and lowered expectations for humanities and heavy writing subjects). There are some private schools that I think would suit him, but they all turn him down when they get sight of the provision in section F of his EHCP. So I think we are probably stuck in homeschool at least through the GCSE/iGCSE years.

If it is missing friends that is concerning DS, can you look to facilitate social interactions via other means?

If attending school is inappropriate, rather than EHE, have you considered pursuing EOTAS? You could look at some APs for the social side of things in addition to other provision (tutoring, online school, tuition centres, some APs focused more on academics) that focuses on academics.

Are you looking for a mainstream school or a specialist school? If specialist, are the independent schools you think could meet DS’s needs wholly independent or section 41 independents?
