New SENCo: provision map not being delivered

A long story which I will try to keep short.

DD does not have an EHCP: school applied for one, we are appealing a refusal to assess.

The SENCo who applied for the EHCP resigned. New SENCo is in place and is reviewing things in the SEN dept.

This review has resulted in the school saying they cannot resource some of the interventions which are outlined on the individual provision map and which the school submitted as costed evidence of what they are doing in the EHCP application / appeal.

I get that it’s all down to money but it is very much a backward step in providing the support she needs.

any advice on what if anything I should do would be great. Thanks

Request another meeting with the SENCO and complain. The school must make reasonable adjustments and must make their best endeavours to meet DD’s SEN. If they need more funding to meet DD’s needs have they applied for high needs top up funding? Unfortunately though, if what they were providing was beyond what is typically available at a SEN support level it may be they genuinely can’t resource what was being provided without EHCP longer term and that it would be beyond reasonable adjustments/making their best endeavours.

Just waiting for the tribunal to sit for the appeal.

Not all counties have additional top up funding, mine only provides funding for children holding EHCPs, a neighbouring local authority provides up to 30 hours of funding without!

All LAs receive funding for high needs top up funding, some schools receive high needs funding directly from the ESFA, and they all have the flexibility to use it for those without EHCPs. If your LA is telling you they can’t provide top up funding without an EHCP they are lying to you.
