Hey all - it’s pretty quiet on the local York chat so thought I’d try here- looking for any recent experience in York secondary schools.
My 8 year old son has recently been diagnosed with autism and, whilst it’s a few years away, (and whilst we’re processing what this means for him) I’m starting to think about what this might mean for secondary school provision. He’s our eldest so I have no experience of secondary’s in York so am interested to get any thoughts from people who are/have been in a similar position. Any schools that have particularly strong SEN provision? Any to avoid?
We’re currently in catchment for Millthorpe which I’ve heard mixed reports on, we’re just out of catchment for Fulford, although have heard this is expanding. All Saints is technically our closest but we aren’t catholic so doubt that’s an option. Moving for the right school isn’t out of the question but equally don’t want to be hysterical about it!
