Hello,
My DD14 started 18mg concerta XL a week ago. She has always been a poor sleeper since being a baby, so I was worried with one of the side effects of concerta being a difficulty sleeping. Prior to starting she had only had a few broken hours sleep over the previous 3-4 days. Anyway, although she seems much calmer and less irritable since starting the concerta - she is getting up and having it with breakfast and then going back to bed. Yesterday she slept almost all day and is asleep now so obviously slept last night - she usually messages me in the night when she can’t sleep and no messages last night. Just wondering is this a usual process now she is feeling calmer and more relaxed her body is catching up on sleep? Or does it mean it’s not working? When she is awake she seems bright and interactive (not at all like her usual presentation) I don’t feel like she is sedated. Will this get better as her body gets used to the medication?
she had a follow up appointment in a few weeks. Just she goes back to school Monday and worried she will be too tired for it. She also has ASD, not sure if that is affecting how the medication works.
has anyone had any similar experiences?
