DLA renewal but no longer has EHCP or help at school.

My son is 12 and diagnosed with Autism. He is a well behaved, polite boy and keen at school as such he currently has no SEN in place or interventions there. This has taken me by surprise but they think he’s doing well.

His emotions take a lot of regulating, he’s currently undergoing some more counselling and has been referred to CAMHs.

If we lose the DLA we lose the funding for his bedroom, and we will need to move, it will be utter carnage as he cannot cope with his brothers at all - that room has dramatically changed our lives.

He cannot go anywhere alone or be left alone, he does not socialise at all, in person or online (apart from with his Nan!)

He does need significantly more care than a child his age but with no measures in place at school how likely are we to get his DLA renewed? I’m so worried about this.

From your post, DS should still be on the SEN register and receiving SEN support. You should request a meeting with the SENCO.

Also from your post, DS sounds like he meets the criteria for DLA. It isn’t based on having an EHCP. If the renewal results in DLA not being awarded you should appeal.
