Child’s funding - can I find out amount?

DS has an EHCP that specifies 1-1 funding at all times. School has told me he gets high needs funding through the family of schools and HLN (high level needs) funding from the local authority. I’ve also read that school should provide first £6k from SEN budget (although I’m not sure if this is the family of schools high needs funding).

Is there a way I can find out how much funding is provided for my child? His 1-1 has become 1-2 with some lessons having no support (not because he doesn’t need it). Would a subject access request tell me this?

Is 1:1 detailed, specified and quantified in F? No woolly and vague wording such as “access to”, “would benefit from”, “opportunities for”, “should receive”, “regular”, “up to”?

The LA is ultimately responsible for ensuring the provision detailed, specified and quantified in F is provided. This applies whatever funding the school receives. EHCPs can be fully funded (even the first £6k - which is from the notional SEN budget although it is rarely actually £6k).

If it is detailed, specified and quantified in F it can be enforced. Email the Director of Children’s Services reminding them under s42 CAFA 2014 they must ensure the SEP is provided. If that doesn’t work email again threatening JR. Then, if that fails contact SOSSEN for help with a pre-action letter. In addition to this, remind the school the EHCP is a legal document and the provision in it must be provided.

Unfortunately, if the wording is vague and woolly it isn’t enforceable and you should request an early review to tighten it up.

Thanks for your reply and advice. We paid for a specialist company to advise on a draft that tightened up (significantly) the vague wording in our draft which was incorporated into the final version. It does say 1:1 support at all times and other provision (specific interventions) say minimum time and experience of TA so I feel that we have a good EHCP.
