Are there risks to seeking an ADHD/ASD diagnosis too early?

When we Google the symptoms, our 5yo child seems to fit the description of any of ADHD, or ASD, or just a gifted and bored child. Some people with experience (but no professional expertise to make a diagnosis) have suggested he has ASD or possibly ADHD. No one we've spoken to has experience with gifted children, to our knowledge.

It's not a big concern because there aren't major problems (not sitting still in group settings, etc.). But we're worried because we don't know what it could develop into, and we haven't heard from a professional. So we were thinking we should just go to one. We're assuming that getting a diagnosis (or ruling one out) sooner rather than later is better.

But what I'm worried about and would value your thoughts on is whether there are risks to getting a diagnosis at this stage that we're not considering. On the face of it (but what do we know?) there's no downside to getting a professional opinion. Thoughts?
