We have been successful in securing a grant for a laptop for DS11. He will begun high school in Sept. He will be using assistive technology (has dsylexia, hypermobility) and ASD.

Can anyone advise on specs of these laptops. The acer one is free or the HP is an upgrade of 178. He has a gaming computer so this one is solely for bringing to school. Not sure if the acer i3 spec would be enough for his needs.

DD has dyslexia and hypermobile fingers and so touch types for everything.

We found that an iPad, plus keyboard case and an e-pen was far better than a laptop and also worked out cheaper in the end.

You can use the camera function to take pics of graphs etc and then annotate them, and you can photograph the board. Neither of which you can do with a laptop.

We installed Office 365 so she has word, excel etc with spell check.

It also weighs considerably less to cart around.

If you have to pick one of those two, I'd probably go with the Acer... DD started with an HP and it was not great.

hi sorry to ask, did you have a phone assessment ? if so after it how long was it for a decision? Good luck with picking your child’s laptop :)
