Hi there, I'd really love to speak to any families who have seen an NHS speech and language therapist? Just going through the system myself with my Son. Did anyone consider going private, or too expensive?

Yes, my son. When he was 2-3 years old. The speech therapist that visits nursery referred him. And then speech therapist to pediatrician. And pediatrician to audiologist. And it was a so called " glued ear"...

We've had both NHS and private SALT. Honestly, if you can afford private then do it. In my experience with the NHS, the actual therapy is not delivered by a speech and language therapist but by a therapy assistant. My child has fairly complex language issues so we have found this useless as they just don't have the training or authority to change it up when it doesn't work.

We paid for over a year of one to one private speech and language it was expensive. We only stopped because we are in the middle of block of NHS SALT. We've had speech and language therapy involvement for over 7 years so feel free to ask any questions!
