My DS, 4, started mainstream school this September. His school also has a specialist speech and language unit for 5 additional students. His EHCP has finally been approved this week. Will he now be moved to the Speech and Language unit of the school, or will he still study with his peers at mainstream class?

I am assuming from what you have written that you have had a "yes" to issue - congratulations! When your son's plan is drafted, you will have up to 15 days to provide schools to consult with and then the LA sends them a consultation pack. Schools have 15 days to say whether they can meet need or not. If you would like your son to stay at his current school, this should be a pretty simple process or at least as simple as anything is in SEND! If your son's primary need is SLCN and he has fulfils the criteria for the enhanced provision at his school, you could ask that he is given a place in that provision but otherwise your son should remain in his regular, mainstream lesson.

DS will only be in the ARP if it is included in his EHCP.
