Hello can someone please tell what happens once a mainstream secondary school is named in the EHCP? Does the SENCO meet with the school, the parents? I am just not sure of the next stage.

I take it you're happy with the school named in Section I that you're talking about? The Senco will already have seen the EHCP before the school was named. In terms of next steps it's really down to the individual setting. Some schools are better at transition that others.

The school has presumably said they can meet your DC's needs. Did the Senco of the named school attend your DS's Yr6 annual review?

You can always contact the Senco yourself and ask for a meeting if there are specific things you want to discuss eg how certain provision is going to be delivered and by who etc.

Your DC may be invited to additional transition days before they start and possibly to meet with any of their new key workers. You can push for this yourself too.

I would do as toomanyminfigs says and proactively contact the SENCO yourself.

The school is sending a senior SEND advisor to have a meeting with my child's school. I wasn't sure if this was the norm or whether the SENCO should/would attend. The SENCO was not invited to the Yr6 annual review - not sure if he would have attended.
