Car seat for autistic son

Hi all,
Desperately looking for a bit of advice. My autistic 4 year old has just grown out of his car seat. I would like the new one we get to be fitted using an isofix. It's also essential for it to have a 5-point harness. However the ones I've found for his age group so far seem to use the car seat belt which wouldn't be appropriate for him. I've already had to adapt the 5-point harness we currently use as he'll try and pull down the shoulder straps (and can actually get his arms out- scary when on the motorway). Any thoughts or advice much appreciated x

You should look for a 25kg car seat. Are they still rear facing as often these seats are extended rear facing seats. Dont know about the isofix issue though

Does DS need the 5 point harness for postural/positioning support or is it only because he takes the seat belt off? If it is the latter have a look at a crelling harness.

I meant to say some of the carseats that cater for higher weights need the seatbelt as well as the carseat’s harness.

Thank you - this is really helpful. That's the category I need I think so that's helped refine my search criteria. He doesn't need to be rear facing... just a 5-point harness

Hi, thanks for your reply. It's just because he will try and take his car seat off. Will take look at the link...
